One thing I hate

The Wilhelm scream.

It's no longer clever. It's annoying. It sticks out like a massive, swollen thumb. And it makes an otherwise good movie slightly less good, in my book.

I wish I would never hear it in another movie again.

Well, first I was going to say, Thanks a lot, if you had never mentioned it I would have never noticed it.

But then by the time I got about 1 1/2 minutes into that video, it had become laugh-out-loud hilarious, so now my thanks has become less sarcastic.

I think we can legitimately count it as satire in Spaceballs, Venture Brothers and Family Guy (especially since it happens before the crash).

Yes, clearly those last films you mentioned used the scream for comic effect. But it's there in so many other movies I can't help but assume that there are a lot of people in Hollywood that think the Wilhelm scream is somewhat obligatory now.

That's too bad, because it has devolved into satire, and, when I'm watching a movie that seems to be taking itself seriously, the use of the scream ends up being a distraction and a mood-breaker.

Happy movie watching.
